Wear Performance

Suncast operates in a competitive environment in which it earns new customers only when its parts have been subjected to trials in which its polyurethane (PUR) parts have performed significantly better than parts supplied by existing customers.

As a result, Suncast parts have had to meet demanding standards before being selected and must continue to meet those standards every time a new or ReCast ™ part is shipped.

Wear performance in this case is a general term used to describe how our parts have fared according to a variety of operating criteria such as:

  • Durability – will they withstand wear long enough to meet the customers life cycle objectives for that part?
  • Life Cycle Cost – how will the cost of Suncast parts stack up against competitors over the life of a given part? Our company tends to have a significant advantage in this area as a result of ReCast ™ allowing multiple uses of any given part.
  • Ease & Safety of Handling – PUR’s comparatively lighter weight makes a considerable difference in this area.
  • Supplier proximity/responsiveness – located within a half day drive of Fort McMurray, we provide close access to people and manufacturing capacity required to deal with any oilsands related issues or needs that may arise.

Suncast’s proprietary blends have outperformed a wide range of other materials including neoprene, high chrome white iron and ceramics with life cycle performance being as high as 2 to 3 times greater than other materials tested in certain applications.
